Dr. Intan Z. Mat Darus is an Associate Professor of School of Mechanical Engineering and Associate Chair of Academic Development in the Office of Undergraduate Studies, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Dr. Intan Z. Mat Darus was born in Malaysia, in September 16th, 1976. She received her First Class B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wales College Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom in 1998 and later her Ph.D.in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2004. Her current research interests are instrumentation measurement and control, modelling and simulation of dynamical system, soft computing techniques, evolutionary algorithms, artificial intelligent, robotic and automation system. She is currently the International editorial board member of the Journal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (AIR), Jurnal Mekanikal and Journal of Institute Engineer Malaysia (IEM). Associate Professor Dr Intan Z. Mat Darus has published over 140 journal and conference papers and funded over 30 research and industrial collaboration and consultancy projects in the area of robotic and automation, artificial intelligent, evolutionary algorithm, instrumentation, measurement and control. She gained several research and service awards including from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Innovation Malaysia and several research awards from Seoul International Invention Fair. She has supervised over 60 postgraduate research students since 2004.

Dr Intan Z. Mat Darus had 20 years of program development and teaching experience in the First and Master Degree level at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia since 1999.
